X-Rite webinar

Doing a webinar is always an exciting thing.
You are live, anything can go wrong, and there is no feedback from the audience, some people love it, some people don’t. I do like the tension to be honest, but for the following webinar I did add a bit more tension….

Normally with a webinar you stream your desktop, show some Lightroom and Photoshop etc. and well… that’s about it.
Well for me that’s something I’ve done so many times that I decided it was time to up the ante just a little bit, for the X-rite webinar we transformed our studio into a small “tv studio” and streamed not only the desktop but also live footage from 3 cameras in our studio (2 webcams and one normal camera). Because we needed more bandwidth we also used a satellite internet connection to stream the content. In the end it all worked out just fine, the frame rate is a bit on the low side I think but that’s more a problem of the software used to stream everything, from our side we have done tests with 720P which went without any problem, so….. for the future we have some interesting things planned as you can imagine.

For today enjoy the webinar I did for X-Rite in which we did a life photoshoot with our model Marie and you will see an explanation about the color checker passport and retouching.

Location location location

We all know the term, location, location, location.
Meaning in short, that the location is very important….
Well that is of course 100% true, however sometimes photographers over-think this rule a bit too much and think they really need a STUNNING location to be able to make good shots. And I have to agree, this helps a lot of course, but I would like to challenge you to also shoot some images in locations that are actually not immediately jumping out as “stunning, wow or great”.

During the session we did with Nadine in Almelo we shot in some very nice location, but somehow I also always try to find a location that is actually not jumping out as a WOW location, but that I can transform into something interesting.

Fashion with a model

Today some images from the series I did with a new model.
Although it’s not the best weather out here we did decide to do a part of the photoshoot outside. On location there are several options but one of the things that always excite me is the Elinchrom Ranger Quadra, as you see in the link I would always couple it with an A head for some extra speed when you need it, and trust me there will always be a moment where you do need it. Of course one can add a lot of extra accessories, you can even get a conversion ring for the quadra to fit the larger Elinchrom accessories to the quadra (Elinchrom Ranger Quadra Reflector Adaptor for EL Reflectors), but somehow with the Quadra I just love the light that the small original reflector creates, and I find myself very often just using that one (it also saves a lot on carrying around gear).
