Behind the closed DOORs Januari 7 2017
Today it was time for the studio day for the students of “a year with Frank”, they could use the studio and gear to create their own ideas, with sometimes a little bit of help from… me 😀
In this episode a very quick way to solve a problem with the Wacom EK remote touchring.
Most of the time the EK remote works like a charm but in 6 months time I had 2 times the problem that the touchring didn’t work anymore, the first time Wacom replaced the EK remote but the second time it happened I decided to do some investigation myself, and found a much better solution to fix this problem, it’s a few seconds work.
Expression is everything in a shot.
You can have the best styling in the world but if the model looks “bored” that’s about it… unless of course looking bored is what you’re after.
One of the tricks I always use to get great expressions and “movement” in a shot is to shoot on “motordrive/slow” you will shoot 2-3 frames a second and you just let the model move/pose/express her/himself. This way you get the more natural looks easier, and this really enhances the shoot A LOT.
So the next time you are a bit stuck in posing your model, just let go of the “a little bit more like….., no do it like….. AARGH” and just let her/him move, 90% of the shots you can trash, but trust me…the killer shot will be there.
Do make sure to use a smaller aperture because the model moves a lot you will have out of focus shots very easily on wider apertures.
