My blog, although I don’t see myself as a blogger but as a Photographer I will try to blog some interesting material during the weeks.
Expect at least 2 updates a week.

Tip : high angles for Awesome action

I always tell people that taking a great shot is much more than just pressing the button. Choosing your angle is one of the vital elements which can really break or make a shot.

In this case I actually used a small ladder to shoot our model from a high viewpoint. Especially with action shots you might expect a lower angle but shooting it with a wide angle and from above I absolutely loved the dynamic outcome.

So the next time you shoot…. don’t just go for one angle. Try different ones. You might love the outcome 😉

Workshop “Alternative light” behind the closed DOORs November 5 2016

In todays episode we take you behind the scenes during the workshop Alternative lighting with Nadine.

In this workshop the idea is to NOT shoot with strobes but use light sources that are often not directly associated with using them for modelphotography, and as you can see they actually work great.

See the shoots with the light from smartphones, Lume Cubes, lightbulbs and of course a led panel.

This is a workshop bursting with creativity and due to the styling of Nadine the results are stunning.

So enjoy todays episode and if you want even more creativity in an instructional video form check out www.frankdoorhof.com/videos and look for MTM3 : creativity (well all videos are pretty cool of course, but that one is all about creativity)

Lume cubes the saviors in a small space

During the workshop at AvioDrome the Lume Cubes again proved to be absolutely awesome.
While spotting locations we really wanted to shoot in a simulator but the problem was that it was very very tight and there was no way to add lighting to the cockpit from the location where I wanted it.

But don’t worry, just use the LumeCubes on a selfie stick and all problems were solved.
I shot these shots with an extreme wide-angle (the Sigma 12-24 on the Sony A7RII) and because I wanted the lights etc. to show up the way they are supposed to we didn’t even put the lumecubes on full power.

So the next time you need some extra light and are in a tight spot…. use the LumeCubes 😀

Results workshop Aviodrome

Some workshops are in the studio, some are on location…
When someone asks me which ones I like the most it’s very hard to say, but SOME workshops really jump out and the workshop I recently taught at AvioDrome in Lelystad is without a doubt one of them.

Today some of the results from this awesome workshop at an awesome location.
If you also want to experience one of the workshops, make sure to visit www.photography-workshops.eu or check www.frankdoorhof.com/videos for the instructional videos.
