Digital classroom November 9 2016

In this episode of digital classroom we talk about using small flash with the Rogue Striplight and snoot/grid.

And we shoot a full body shot with some motion.

There is some lip sync problem in the first part of the broadcast we apologize for this.

Tip : posing in mid air

When shooting motion or jumps a lot of stuff is going on. You have to take care of the lighting, which can be a real challenge if you (like me) love the higher contrast lighting. But also the focus, composition, expression of the model etc. it can really be a challenge.

So most jump shots are often…. just jump shots. Still it’s very important to remember that you can still coach the model to pose in mid air. I have to add that not all models can do this, but if they are able…make sure you take advantage of that possibility.

So the next time you let your model jump. Try to push it just a little bit further.

Tip : high angles for Awesome action

I always tell people that taking a great shot is much more than just pressing the button. Choosing your angle is one of the vital elements which can really break or make a shot.

In this case I actually used a small ladder to shoot our model from a high viewpoint. Especially with action shots you might expect a lower angle but shooting it with a wide angle and from above I absolutely loved the dynamic outcome.

So the next time you shoot…. don’t just go for one angle. Try different ones. You might love the outcome 😉

Workshop “Alternative light” behind the closed DOORs November 5 2016

In todays episode we take you behind the scenes during the workshop Alternative lighting with Nadine.

In this workshop the idea is to NOT shoot with strobes but use light sources that are often not directly associated with using them for modelphotography, and as you can see they actually work great.

See the shoots with the light from smartphones, Lume Cubes, lightbulbs and of course a led panel.

This is a workshop bursting with creativity and due to the styling of Nadine the results are stunning.

So enjoy todays episode and if you want even more creativity in an instructional video form check out www.frankdoorhof.com/videos and look for MTM3 : creativity (well all videos are pretty cool of course, but that one is all about creativity)
