Totally new workshop program

I’m always trying to improve my workshops.
Over the years I’ve always added workshops, changed content etc. but this week I’ve made the biggest change ever.

Lenaa Januari 25 2014 B (3 of 4)

From now on all my workshops will be almost 100% flexible for the group I’m teaching.
I’ve been playing with the concept during my workshops abroad for some time now and found it incredibly successful, so now I’ve also moved this concept to the workshops in our studio in Emmeloord.

In short all workshops are build up by blocks.
Block A : Q&A
A Q&A session in which I will not only answer questions, but we will also determine the problem areas for the group and the workshop will be tailor made to tackle these problems.
Block B : Live session with model
A full photoshoot with several light setups, themes etc. with a professional model.
Block C : Groups discussion of the material shot during the workshops
A discussion about the shots taken during the workshop with tips and hints on how to improve.
Block D : Groups assignment
Every workshop this will be different depending on the group, in this assignment the group has to work together to fulfill a “commercial shoot” meaning from the styling to the retouching.
Block E : Retouch and workflow
Full overview of my workflow, Lr/Ps and plugins, including many tips depending on the shots we took during the day.
Block F : Portfolio review
Take your 10 best shots and get a review not only from me but also from the other attendees, a very informative part of the workshop.
Block G : Home work
Every group gets a home work assignment which will be judged by me within a week after receipt of the images.

Remember this is just a short description.
Because I want the workshops to be affordable for all people we are offering several new workshops on the site:

Platja d’aro outside workshops Part I

The second day in Platja d’aro it was time for the outside part of the workshops.
We used a beautiful location very close to the “home base” where I taught the seminar the day before.

What you see today is the series I shot with strobes, in another blog post I will share the natural light shots.
I have to be honest, I would have loved to shoot some more but because in this workshop the idea was to give the group a large amount of time to shoot themselves my time was very limited, I think however we ended up with some pretty cool results 😀

New York in BW Leica R

During our stay in New York I shot some images with the Yashica Mat 124 which I shared on the blog a few days ago, however I also shot one roll of Kodak 400 BW in my Leica R camera. Today some of my favorite shots from this roll, scanned with the Reflecta MF5000 and Silverfast Studio Ai.

Platja d’aro workshops part I

This weekend we were in Spain for 2 workshops in the town of Platja d’aro.
Platja d’aro is a beautiful town with awesome beaches and when you rent a car you can drive around and see some stunning scenery, but our time was very limited, it was almost literally fly in, teach 2 days and fly out, luckily one of the students drove us around for a few hours after the first workshop and I have to be honest…. without any doubt I’ll be back and take a bit more time to look around. In short… if you are planning to visit Spain and are looking for a place that has all the feel of a vacation town but still has the rest and is not primarily aimed at youth but also to families I think Platja d’aro is a great choice.

Anyway.
The first day was reserved for a Fashion shoot A-Z like seminar/workshop.
For an enthusiastic group of app 50 attendees I showed several light setups and gave some retouching tips.
All my information was translated into Spanish so also the non-english speaking attendees got the information.

The dresses were sponsored by the awesome (from Dutch origins) Sinister clothing company.

Camera : Mamiya DF+ with Leaf Credo 60.
