Impressions Professional Imaging 2012

Pfffff.
Yesterday we arrived back home from 3 “brutal” days of Professional Imaging.
Professional Imaging (http://www.professionalimaging.nl) is a tradeshow that is organized every year and is a combination of an Expo floor with many companies like Canon, Nikon, Epson, NIK, OnOne, Adobe, Wacom etc. etc. You could say it’s the biggest tradeshow in the Netherlands aimed at the photographer.

Frank, Drew and Dave

Every year there are also some big name speakers, in the past names like Scott Kelby, Matt Kloskowski etc. all spoke several times on the Professional Imaging. I’ve been involved on the trade show for many years as a speaker in the Elinchrom booth where I will do several demos (small workshops) during the day and of course take a lot of time to talk to people and review portfolios etc. so the Professional Imaging is always very busy for me… this year however it was even more busy.

Your questions our answers with Drew, Dave and Frank session

2012 the speakers for the main stage were my good friends Drew Gardner and Dave Black.
Both amazing photographers in their own “game”. Dave I already knew for sometime via Kelbytraining and I think he is not a sports photographer as you normally would see a sports photographer, I think his images are so crazy above the rest that I always call them art (something Dave loves :-)). And Drew well I can be very short about this guy, an amazing photographer with epic sets and also a photographer with humor and some real good insights in styling.

Carry your camera

When I visit people the chance is very high that I will also bring my “little friend” in my case a photo camera (5DMKII in most cases).
Actually almost where ever I go I will bring my camera, now some people asked me a while ago “what do you shoot all that time” and to be honest I had to admit that in most cases I will return home without images, or with maybe 2-3 images, however sometimes I will always feel “naked” without my camera, and let’s be honest when you don’t have it with you, you will probably see the most wonderful scene that you would have loved to capture.

Yesterday I had to visit some customers in the Rotterdam area and I decided to show you guys four images I shot during the drive. I have to add that these images are JUST FOR FUN to show you some of the shots I take when on the road. Two of these images I will probably some time in the future use for a composite (also shot some great structures). But overall the images are just for fun and shot on parking places or in and around the buildings where my customers are located. So here we go.

White silhouette dance

Last Thursday I did a session with Susanne, the theme for that day was set to “new” sounds simple but in fact I think it’s very important to sometimes just do things differently. We are all busy and it’s easy to be caught up in a routine and before you know it you are repeating the same thing over and over again without any improvements or “freshness” especially in photography it’s (I think) very important to keep changing and evolving. So in this session I decided to do some “looks” I’ve been playing with in my head for some time but never really brought out to the studio. And as you all know I love motion so it’s no surprise that I involved some motion in the first setup I’m gonna show you guys today (it will be a two part series).

Professional Imaging day 1

Yesterday it was the first day of the Professional Imaging.
Great show day and loads of people visiting the workshops, it was a blast.

Hanging with Dave Black and Drew Gardner is always fun but seeing them on stage is more than impressive, what a work do they show, wow. You really don’t want to miss this (still two days left :-))

During the day we filmed some backstage material with my iPhone 4S and I edited on the hotel room on the iPad with the new iMovie.
So don’t expect too much, it’s just a fun video.
