Photoshoot DJ Roy

Last week DJ Roy visited our studio for some new shots.
I love to shoot artists because somehow I can concentrate more on their music/work and character that you normally do with fashion. As always I will select some of the shots of the session I particulary love and share them with you guys. This time I choose some of the images that I shot while playing with lens flare and strong backlights.
Also read a small interview with Roy.

Roy, can you tell a little bit about yourself, your music and your work ?
Yes of course, I’m 31 years old and a professional DJ for 12 years, and won several prices for my work:
best DJ in 2001/2002
Audience award for best DJ in 2003/2004
Most populair DJ 2007-2008
And some smaller awards, I love my work you could say it’s my life, every week I play 4-5 evenings on average all through the Netherlands, but I’ve also done some work internationally. I think it will be hard to find an European country were I haven’t played :D. I still have the same passion as 10 years ago and still love what I do on a daily basis, and that makes me proud of my work.

How did you experience the photoshoot with Frank ?
I was at ease very quickly and that was nice, the tension and feeling of pressure were all gone and I could totally get into the instructions that Frank gave me, which luckily has a great feel for what I wanted as an end result and played with that. He also was very open for other ideas we had and that made working with him very nice, I will be needing some more images soon and I will of course visit Frank again.

What’s your vision for the future ?
I would love to keep working for many years to come it’s what I love to do and having fun in your work influences your entire life. When I go to work smiling I don’t call that work, I made my hobby into my profession… what more to wish for, right ?

Are you working on anything special at the moment ?
This year there will be a new single and my new site will be online at http://www.djroy.nl And we are in full swing to organise parties, I will continue to do what I love and we’re I’m good at.
Don’t dream your life, but live the dream !!!
-Roy
