Workshops Austria Day 1

Last week I taught an intense 4 days workshop in Austria, actually it were 3 full days from 10:00-18:00 and one seminar on Lightroom and Photoshop, but still that’s 4 days of course. For me it’s been a while since I was in Austria, I remember my parents and grandparents always going there on holidays and I still had very vague memories on those trips (all positive).

Without any doubt it’s a beautiful country and I loved Vienna, you have seen my street photography images from Vienna in the previous blogposts. But starting today I will show you in 3 posts the workshops images. I’ve decided to do it by day because otherwise it’s probably a bit much for one post. So today the images from day 1.

Cherelle small flash

A few months ago I started teaching the small flash workshop.
I did use small flash before this of course but somehow never taught a workshop about it, until I talked a bit with Joe McNally who pointed out to me that there was a lot of interest for small flash workshops in a more technical approach, and because I’m a strong believer in understanding what’s going on when you shoot I decided to write a workshop that does not only tell you about ETTL and show some light setups, but a workshop that tells you where ETTL goes wrong and how you can solve this, but also how to shoot (and meter) for full manual mode, and of course how to use creative light setups, groups, ratios etc.

Last week it was time for Cherelle to be my model for the small flash workshop.
In this blog post some more information about the techniques, gear and of course some of my favorite shots from that day.

Workshop at Dutch Elinchrom agent Fotoflits

The days I’m sick in a year are not that much, as most people I’m sometimes struck with some soar throat problems, some headaches or just simply put some off days, however once or maybe twice a year I’m really sick, often the flu. Luckily for me it always goes rather quick but sometimes there are some hard decisions to be made, last week it was a week like that, teaching the DIPP workshop went ok, but the days after the DIPP workshop I got really sick from the flu. I hoped to be better for the workshops that weekend, starting on Friday in Wormerveer with the Dutch Elinchrom agent (and good friends) Fotoflits, and the workshop that Saturday. But in the end I had to make a choice I could only do one workshop (on Doctors advise) and in this case I choose the Fotoflits workshop, this was planned way in advance and was not something that could be repeated very easily. So I filled up on flu medication and went to Fotoflits.
