Video with Polaroid

Last week Sharon and I visited a good friend and fellow photographer Pim van der Maden in his studio, which actually is very close to our studio (walking distance). Pim and I talked a few months ago about a large format Polaroid he still owned but hardly used anymore, I immediately got the idea that it would be cool to show you guys a small video in which Pim would explain how he worked with this camera.

When we started working with the camera the talk however soon became much more than just about the Polaroid, we just kept the camera rolling and decided we would edit it into a small “podcast” “interview on location” “instructional” video. And today you can see the video here on the blog. I hope you enjoy it, and even if you’re not into Polaroids (who isn’t ?) I think there are some very interesting things there that you can use in your own photography.

Many thanks to Emma, Pim and Sharon.

Wibi live shots

Every year Wibi Soerjadi gives several christmas concerts throughout the Netherlands, this year was very special because it was his 30 year celebration as a pro musician, and of course right after the release of his new CD. The christmas concerts are always great and something I love to visit. This year we choose the Concert gebouw in Amsterdam, an awesome location for a concert like this. Normally photography is strictly forbidden during a classical concert but I have certain privileges with Wibi and he asked me to make some impressions of the concert which I loved to do of course.

Wibi after the awesome Queen transcription

The first part of the concert I was located at the balcony seats and was able to shoot a few images from there (best place in the house :D)

Backstage video workshop fotoflits

I already shared some of the images we took during this workshop (see here), and today you can see the backstage video our intern Evita shot and edited.

Workshop at Dutch Elinchrom agent Fotoflits

The days I’m sick in a year are not that much, as most people I’m sometimes struck with some soar throat problems, some headaches or just simply put some off days, however once or maybe twice a year I’m really sick, often the flu. Luckily for me it always goes rather quick but sometimes there are some hard decisions to be made, last week it was a week like that, teaching the DIPP workshop went ok, but the days after the DIPP workshop I got really sick from the flu. I hoped to be better for the workshops that weekend, starting on Friday in Wormerveer with the Dutch Elinchrom agent (and good friends) Fotoflits, and the workshop that Saturday. But in the end I had to make a choice I could only do one workshop (on Doctors advise) and in this case I choose the Fotoflits workshop, this was planned way in advance and was not something that could be repeated very easily. So I filled up on flu medication and went to Fotoflits.
