News about StudioFD, Frank Doorhof, and more.

RIP Malcolm

This morning we heard the sad news about the passing of Malcolm Whittle.
Now for people not know Malcolm, he was the head of Elinchrom.

We met Malcolm a few years ago during Photokina and I immediately loved his attitude, let’s put it this way he suffered from the same “problem” that I have… I believe in our hearts we never grew up, he loved life and every time we met him he was full of life. Not often do you meet someone that has such a drive and power at his age and still looked and acted young.

I (and Annewiek) consider the whole Whittle family as close friends and from our side we would wish them all the strength they need in the coming weeks/months/years. Malcolm will be dearly missed. Malcolm and his family took us under their wings at Elinchrom and made sure that we were always treated like family. I was more than honored to demo at the Elinchrom head offices last year (just a few months ago) and meet up with Malcolm for the last time and had some fun.

I’m sure the next thunderstorm will be a little bit better in light quality, because I’m sure Malcolm will be adjusting the light from up there to his liking 🙂
RIP Malcolm.

Opening exposition Groningen

In December gallery Lightzone in Groningen is the host of a very special exposition of my work called “the 2 faces of Frank Doorhof”.
In this exposition you will see some of my favorite shots I took during our travels but also my favorite model photography shots, so it’s really a mixed exposition in styles, and I think it’s indeed the 2 faces of me, I love model photography but I also love shooting on the street.

The fun part is that my street photography is often fast/raw and unprepared while with the model photography I’m very precise and perfectionistic, so it’s indeed the 2 faces of me.

You can visit the exposition till the end of December.
Today I share the small BTS video Annewiek made during the opening.
And yeah… she is also signing a book 😀

3 free webinars this week

Busy week with 3 very special webinars 🙂
And make sure to check out these, because we have some special surprises.

First up tonight is :
X-rite
http://www.xrite.com/top_services.aspx?eventId=1655

Right after that it’s a webinar for Peachpit about my new book
http://www.peachpit.com/promotions/peachpit-photo-club-137633

And finally on Thursday it’s time for DxO:

Now normally with webinars you watch a screenshare…… Well I hate the normally thing 🙂
So for these webinars we will be doing it slightly different, at the moment we’re setting up several cameras in our studio to also include a liveshoot on Tuesday, and probably also on Thursday.
So make sure you register and watch, it’s gonna be fun 🙂
