My blog, although I don’t see myself as a blogger but as a Photographer I will try to blog some interesting material during the weeks.

Sometimes it’s time to do something that’s more experimental, or in other words something that can go wrong.
I love those sessions but due to my schedule it’s often hard to plan something like this, but yesterday it was time to play. Many thanks to Bianca who was my willing model for this session. Remember when clicking on read the rest that some images can be considered not safe for work, although I feel they are all rather safe 🙂
As many as you already know I sometimes love to shoot sports.
Because my wife’s company sponsors our local soccer team SCE (Sport Club Emmeloord) this is of course most of the time my choice, always a lovely atmosphere and we know everyone there so it’s not only shooting sports but also a nice day with friends. And although it was freezing cold and I can only wear gloves which allows me to operate my camera I had the feeling my fingers froze off, but the shots turned out ok. As with many of the blog posts I post that do not include models also here, Remember I’m not a sports shooter, this is just for fun.
I used the Canon 5DMKII and the Canon 100-400L for this game.
I owned the 100-400L a few years ago and sold it for the Sigma 80-400OS which was slightly sharper, however I sold that one because the focus was way too slow for what I loved to do, enter the Sigma 150-500 which was faster with focus but in the end I still missed the 100-400L so after testing some other lenses I decided it was better to return to the 100-400L, it’s weird by the way that Canon does not replace this lens because it’s an old lens, but the quality is still adequate, even on the 5DMKII and maybe I’m on of the few that loves the push pull zoom for sports.
Today a simple blog post with some new images.
I’m writing a technical blogpost at the moment that will be released somewhere tomorrow or the weekend about calibration workflow so keep looking for that one 😀
Yesterday Stephanie was our model for a 1:1 workshop, in this blog posts some of my favorite images from that workshop. During the 1:1 workshops the student can of course make their own workshop, so they are always fun to teach because in fact there is no real standard workshop, whatever the student wants to know we work to in the workshop.
In this case the questions were ranging from high contrast fashion setups to movement, and for jumps Stephanie must be one of my favorite models, her personality is already jumping all over the place and give her the chance to jump for a photo and you have to do your best to keep her on the ground 😀
I’ve been incredibly busy the last few months so there was little to no time for free work, meaning as mentioned many times on the blog that most of the images I showed were shot during the workshops and although we can of course use themes, different clothing etc. during the workshops, which I always do to keep the workshops fresh and challenging, it’s not the same as a free work session. During the workshops I will always make a few images to show the results and after that the students are up for the shoot. When I work for myself I take a bit more time to check if I really nailed the shot I wanted.
Yesterday it was time for such a shoot and with Nadine as my model it was assured we would also have some very nice styling, one day when she stops modelling I’m 100% sure she will return many times to the studio as stylist.
