During the workshops the main focus is of course to teach but as a good photographer should I also can’t resist to shoot some images myself of course 😀 and in this blog post you will see my favorites of the workshop and read something about the stories behind them.

If you have any questions about the images or the workshop, feel free to ask so by using the comment option.

Workshop Dublin 8 September 2010

Today it was time for the workshop.
With the workshops during the Photovision Roadshow I choose to do very small groups instead of the bigger workshops we do during the weekends independent on a tour. This way I can also work a bit on my own portfolio and give a different kind of workshop. I love doing both of course but both are slightly different experiences for both me and the students.

We started out with a small round table conversation about technique and explaining everything from calibrating the lichtmeter to light control and measuring the light, but most of all calculating the light response, or in other words… what you need to make a white background or a black background with the meter within seconds.

Photovision Roadshow day

Pffff we’re just back at the hotel from a more than fun day at the Photovision Roadshow.
We do these shows app 4 times a year and I teach a free seminar during the day and for the rest just hang out with the people there and of course meeting new people. The seminars itself are always so much fun to do, but it’s sometimes hard to cram 2 hours of seminar into one, but it somehow always works out, although it feels like a roller coaster sometimes. Also today the room was packed with people sitting on the floor just to be there, thank you so much for the reactions and the great atmosphere you guys created.

Today was a bit extra special because we decided to test out the iPhone4 and iMovie in a situation like this and see what happens….

Dublin sightseeing day

Today it was the day we have planned for sightseeing.
When we do the workshops abroad we always try to plan 1-2 days for ourselves to also see some of the area and visit some locations that are interesting. In this case the Irish weather does not help, it’s raining almost constantly, but somehow (call it a wonder) the only hour that was dry was the hour we visited Trim castle, the location were Braveheart was filmed (6 months). We always love castles so this one was high on our list.

After that it was back to Dublin to visit a large shopping mall to kill the time, it was too bad outside, however even in the rain I tried to also do some street photography, it’s something completely different than what I normally do but I still love it and am trying to improve in that department every time we are in a large city. And as you can see in the opening shot, there are always people that do the same thing even when it rains.
