Introducing the Rogue magnetic system

Sometimes we get products that are just nice and a cool addition to the rest.
But sometimes…. well they really change the way you (can) work.
And today the video in which I introduce a system like this.

The Rogue magnetic system for round flashes and speedlights.
An after the flashbender Rogue released another product that is clearly designed with the photographer in mind. Which for me means, portable/light, easy to work with and most of all not limiting the creativity of the user.

So let’s go.

Tip: Get that sun

One of the things I always love to do is shoot the sun in the frame.

Sometimes just somewhere in the frame. But often I get more satisfaction by placing it for example just behind the model and letting it just shine through creating some cool effects.

Of course you can do the same with strobes.

Feel free to share your favorite sun in the frame images.

Digital classroom “alternative light sources”

In this episode of Digital Classroom a full 2 hours on alternative light sources.
A lot of photographers think you need expensive strobes to get great results, but in reality it can be done with much less, even lightbulbs, christmas lights etc. they can all be used for stunning results.

In this 2 hour recording of our live broadcast you can see how Nadine styles the sets and we shoot some killer images with just the available lights, no strobes 😀

Please subscribe to our YouTube channel via this link and make sure we continue to produce this kind of work.

Sharon in a small space

One of the workshops I teach is actually called “Small spaces”
Loads of photographers “complain” about their studio being too small, and of course this is possible, but in my opinion there is always an interesting shot to get.

You might not be able to make a model jump (although that could be funny, and painful) but there is always a option. So this workshop is all about working in tight spaces and this means smaller modifiers (often just a beauty dish) with grids to make sure the light hits only the places you want it to, and of course we have to adjust the models poses a bit.
Remember also that tight/small spaces can actually be incredibly cool if you let your model pose with them, for example lean in between two walls, make her look “locked up” etc. when you come to think about it shooting in small spaces can be much more interesting than shooting in wide open spaces 😀

Today some images from this workshop with Sharon.

As you can see sometimes you have to think outside the box… but in the case of small spaces it can help to think inside the box 😀
