Today we get to see the lantern in action

You’ve been asking a lot about the lantern. So for today I thought it would be nice to share a video in which I show you the difference between a standard softbox with grid and the new Geekoto lantern.

As you can see they both give totally different looks.
The softbox with grid is great for high-contrast photography and a moody backdrop.
The lantern opens up the background and can still be placed close to the model for top to bottom shots.

Results Day 3 with Tion

In the previous blog we showed you the behind the scene video we shot during the ClickLive event.
Today in the blog some of the results from Tion

Shot with the Geekoto GT400 and the new Geekoto Lantern and striplight.
On the blue tinted images I’m using a GT200 with the Rogue magnetic system and a blue gel.

This was the third day and the backgrounds were not mounted 100% anymore, but I still love the results from these sessions.
Also many thanks to Tion who did his best with loads of different outfits and never too tired to pose for me or the attendees. This day was a bit more quiet on the show so I had some more time to shoot, so sorry for the many images 😀

For the first series I’m using the new Geekoto Lantern and striplight on the Geekoto GT400

It’s always a challenge to shoot images during a trade show, but with a set like this and a great model it becomes a lot more easy.

Here I placed the striplight close to the wall for some nice side lighting.
I always love this setup and with Tion it worked extremely well.

Finally I added a Geekoto GT200 with the Rogue magnetic system and a blue gel in the back, and use the Geekoto striplight as mainlight for some final more moody shots.

It’s been interesting….

It’s been interesting to go through my old work for this episode of Digital Classroom. It was broadcasted on February 14, Valentine’s Day. And we didn’t want to do another model in red.
I thought it would be fun to dedicate a whole episode to Love for Photography. About the way my photography changed, but also my vision of my work and the way I work with models, sets, lighting, and styling.

UK Here we come…. for some cool workshops

It’s almost time for our yearly UK tour.
Every year we travel to 3 locations in the UK with a model to teach a full day workshop.
This year we will do it slightly different because we will also be teaching one of the very successful “Mastering the model shoot : A-Z” workshops in the London area.

Me (of course)
Annewiek : assisting, filming
Nadine : Styling, model

So where will we be?
We kick of the tour on June 4th in London with the “Mastering the model shoot : A-Z”
This is a full day with a complete explanation of my workflow, starting the with planning of the shoot, the light setups, retouching, sharing and business tips, all in a very flexible setup with loads of room for questions and fun.

Price of the workshop : 50.00 pounds.

After that we will teach a full day workshop on June 5th in the London area.
This workshop was one of the fastest ever to sell out (within a week), but you can also mail us for the reserve list if someone drops out.
These workshops are small group workshops where you also shoot yourself and trust me… you will go home with some amazing shots and an incredible amount of information.
