Walk around the model

Using our #rogue black umbrella with sleeve on our model Claudia
Background : Emerald punch from clickpropsbackdrops

During the workshops I always give a lot of attention to this super simple “move” that will give you so much more out of your shoots.

By walking around the model you can get totally different looks from your shoot. The umbrella is awesome for this because by slightly tilting it you can have total control over the amount of light hitting the backdrop.

So the next time you do a shoot don’t shoot from one location…but move around. Sometimes just a little bit can make a huge difference.

And one more thing 😉

Because of the coming black Friday we start early

The new Rogue umbrella kit. And it rocks…

Saturday was the first time I shot with the brand-new #rogue umbrella system.

In these shots I actually used it as my main light source. Absolutely love the quality of the light but also the size and weight of the umbrella.

And let’s be honest the umbrella is a very versatile modifier.

So let’s take a look at the shots I took with the umbrella from our model Felisa.

Also… That was the first workshop I was able to use the TTartisan 50mm 1.4 lens. And what a beautiful lens. Love the bokeh and the character of the lens. Plus its razor sharp. A video review will follow soon.

Speedlight magic : an in-depth tutorial about the speedlight and round flash systems

Without any doubt the speedlight is one of the most creative tools in the photographers arsenal. Some call it strobist, some call it speedlights, or small flash… in essence this is the video for you and just for these strobes of course.

We talk about the techniques like HSS, Exposure compensation, First/Second curtain sync, Zoom, ETTL, manual etc. but we also cover my favourite accessories, information about remote controls and how to mount the strobes to a stand and of course there are several chapters with awesome lighting setups.

Everything is filmed and edited in 4K and shot from different angles so you can see the explained techniques very clearly. During the studio sessions you see all the images coming in while they are shot, and you get to see the finished results.

Speedlight magic is a video for everyone that is interested in working with the most creative strobe system that fits in almost every bag.

Run time : 70+ minutes

The many ways to use a beautydish

The beautydish is probably one of those modifiers that you can find in every studio in the world. And probably when you start with portraits or fashion it’s one of the first things you buy.

But why use it just one or two ways when you can do so much more;). So in this video we take a look at the Hensel beautydish and the possibilities.
