Beat the reflection

Often get questions about how to shoot someone with glasses.

Do you take the glasses out, do you use spray etc etc. In essence it’s actually incredibly simple.

Remember that the angle of incidence is the angle of reflection. This is the Golden rule for shooting someone with glasses.

Always make sure you check your angle and you don’t really need to do extreme things like take the glasses out. It’s all in the angles 😉

Good luck on your next shoot

Tip : Master HSL for cool effects

HSL is one of the most powerful color alternation tools, but it’s often not used by people because they don’t really know about.

In this video I show you what it does, how to use it PLUS I show you the latest release of Alien skin Exposure 3 that has a REALLY cool way of incorporating HSL, you will love that one.

21 Years……Oh my

7-7-1997
That date is incredibly important for us.
You probably already guessed it due to the title… it’s our wedding day.
So today, no workshops, no behind the closed DOORs, some social media, but limited… but today it’s our anniversary.

So Annewiek…….
What does she actually do in my life….

She’s always with me when we travel.
We always say, “If you hire Frank, you get Annewiek as well”

She’s great in carrying my gear during workshops or travels
Now that sounds more bad than it is. Because Annewiek knows how everything works (although she always claims to know nothing about the gear, she actually does) she can help out perfectly during workshops and travel while I focus on the attendees and on filming or shooting. When we get new gear I always let Annewiek decide when it’s something we have to carry. Now again… it might sound bad but in essence I also lug around a lot of gear, but during workshops I really want to focus on you guys.

She’s always setting things up.
When I teach workshops I love it that everyone wants to talk with me, get their selfies etc. But I also have to setup my laptop (or break it down), check lighting, see if the camera works, start up the software etc. Luckily this is where Annewiek helps out. The only thing I have to do…. well is show up and do my thing. She arranges everything.

She’s doesn’t know anything about video and photography.
But she filmed (and edited) most of our instructional videos, when she films for the vlog she often is more creative than the interns that studio video, and she…..

She’s a great photobomber (video bomber)
How many times did she appear in my frame behind me when I’m explaining something and I later during editing see her big smile behind me…… oh she did it again. It also drew the attention from the viewers because they kept asking her to do it more…. DON’T ENCOURAGE HER

She’s there.
Whenever I need something done, have a problem, need anything. Annewiek is someone that will do it, that will take care of it or just listens.

In short…..
She just Rocks.

Annewiek….. congrats on our 21st anniversary.
And let’s go for another (at least 50).

The light of masters BTCD July 6 2018

In todays episode we take you behind the scenes during the workshop “Classical lighting” or in other words the light of the masters.

Think about George Hurrell, Harcourt, Newton, Avadon…. etc. in this workshop I mix it all together and give it a modern blend. I also show the attendees how the older studio cameras worked, how to work with polaroid and film and a lot more.

So join us for todays episode of behind the closed DOORs.
If you also love these kind of setups, make sure to check out www.frankdoorhof.com and www.fotografie-workshops.nl for an overview of our workshops.
