Tip about using gels

20-09-2017/2 Comments/in blog, Visions and technique/by Frank Doorhof

Gels are awesome to play with and really spice a shot up.

Often people think you need to use two gels to achieve the effect you see here.

In fact you don’t

If you use for example a strong red gel and balance based on the gel in the mix you can actually “fake” the idea that you used two gels.

Remember that color is nothing more than a balance or calibration. Use your gels smart and you can create stunning images without too much problems. All colors are connected. What you do is just manipulate your white point.

Would love to see you’re favorite gelled images.

    Hi Frank;

    Can you explain further, not sure how the purple/blue light on her face shows up? Is this something you do in poist?

      By using one gel and not correcting on the skin tones you will get a different color than than the original skin tone.
