New model Bertrie

As mentioned before, most of the time we are looking for new talent, normally this means we will shoot 1-2 models each month via so called “test sessions”, small bare bones 1 hour sessions (sometimes 2) in which we try several things but keep everything really simple. From the models we shoot maybe 10% will also end up working for the studio for the workshops or assignments.

In this blogpost I like to introduce Bertrie.
She will be doing some workshops in the near future so watch out for more images from this beauty from Leeuwarden.

Guestblog Douglas Sonders 2

I met Douglas during a Photoshop World and somehow we clicked, I LOVE his work so when I was looking for guestbloggers during this PhotoshopWorld Douglas was one of the first I asked, and today the first guestblog by my buddy Douglas Sonders.

I want to thank my friend Frank for allowing me to guest blog on his excellent site, and thank you for taking the time to read my post. I put together this blog post, because so many of my friends that are NOT photographers wonder what the lifestyle is like. They think it is all parties and adventure, but don’t realize how much it takes to actually survive and hopefully succeed in this industry. I hope some of you enjoy some of the insight into what it takes to get by as a commercial photographer, and for those of you that do work your butt off as well, I hope you have some personal experiences to share as well.

New model Manon

During our modelcompetition “Poldermodel 2012” Manon was one of the models that really drew my attention during the photoshoots. Last week she visited our studio for a testshoot and I can say that she blew me away (and I think she also blew away herself seeing her responses to the images :D), I will be working more with Manon in the future as you can imagine and I will start using her for the workshops in the new agenda… so expect a lot more from this fellow “Emmeloorder” 😀

Driving from LA to Vegas

As long as I can remember I’m in love with the states, somehow I just love the country, the people but most of all the sometimes incredible nature. Especially California I love for the simple reason that as a photographer the landscape just changes every few miles with the next view even more jawdropping than the next.

Also as long as I can remember I’ve been wanting to drive parts of Route66 and of course the drive between Vegas and LA… well both dreams have come true this time. I’m a sucker for the old fashioned American styles, I love diners, gas stations, billboards etc. so just driving some Route 66 in LA was not enough, I wanted the real route 66 and let’s be honest what’s the best option?…. indeed combine it with the drive from Los Angeles to Vegas.
