Some images from PSW

Without any doubt PhotoshopWorld is for me one of the highlights of the year.
PhotoshopWorld is switching between the east and west coast and is held twice a year.
To say that PhotoshopWorld is just a tradeshow is a big understatement, yes there is an expo floor with a lot of booths, but most of all PhotoshopWorld is about teaching, imaging being taught by the best instructors in the world in Photoshop, Photography, Lightroom etc. you will be blown away by the choices you have. During the day there are seminars from early morning to late in the evening, and then there are the parties, midnight madness, portfolio reviews, panels and so much more…. it’s mind boggling. The main attraction of PhotoshopWorld is that the teachers are not the “demo-ers” you normally see at trade shows, imaging seeing Scott Kelby, Matt Kloskowski, Dave Black etc. at work on the Expo floor in the booths explaining their tricks, you feel what I mean ? 😀

I always tell people that my favorite times of the year are my birthday, christmas and PhotoshopWorld.
For me (and all other instructors) it’s a huge honor to be able to call myself one of the instructors at PhotoshopWorld, this time was my fourth PhotoshopWorld in a row and the second where I taught a so called Pre-con workshop.

Maria Bertrand

As you probably already know we’re back from PhotoShopWorld (later more on this).
PSW switches between Orlando and Las Vegas (and sometimes other places), and this time it was Las Vegas.
Because we travelled with my mom we decided to not fly in to Vegas directly but to fly to LA and stay a few days there, and drive to Vegas after that, a short vacation so to speak. However vacation or not…. when you’re in LA (lala land) you must of course also shoot an actor or actress 😀

Via a good friend of mine (and great fitness shooter) Ian L. Sitren www.secondfocus.com I got in contact with Maria Bertrand, a professional actress and fitness model in LA. Now some people are just cool, and some people are incredibly nice and cool, Maria is one of the last category. Originally she would only be joining us for diner, but let’s be honest when you have the change to shoot such a beautiful lady you can’t resist, so we decided to do a quick impromptu shoot.

Workshops Austria Day 3

For the final day of the workshops in Austria we moved locations, the palace was wonderful but the next location got my creative juices flowing like crazy (hope this translates the way I mean it, if not sorry :D).

After a 20 minute drive from our home base (the palace) we arrived at the castle.
Although the inside locations attracted me and I would normally start there I somehow decided to start outside, now this was a very good thing to do because we were not yet completely finished (to be precise one student still wanted to make 2-3 shots) and it started to rain and it did not stop for the rest of the day, talk about being lucky.

Workshops Austria Day 2

Today the images from the second day of workshops in Austria.
For the second day we also used the Palace.
However I used a slightly different approach for the shots.
For the first set we moved to the so called mirror room and the students were given a very simple assignment (well so they thought), “make a shot as a group within 15 minutes, and blow me away”…. I use this kind of assignments often to let the group work together and learn how important it is to work as a team, and they did great…. the group used strobes (although did not meter them…… 🙁 ) but in the end, believe it or not…. I was blow away by a natural light shot which also won the overal competition price of the whole competition…. I’m proud (well done Maria).

After the assignment I did several sample shots in the mirror room, here is one of the results.
