Bugs Binny
Back in 2005 I was taking a lot of street photography. It was a way of getting to know Amsterdam and what it had to offer on a daily basis.
Early mornings were my favorite time to shoot.
At 6am the city was either just crawling into bed or slowing getting out of it.
No-one was around and the streets had a comfort of calm which was what I loved.
This shot was ever so slightly staged.
Bugs Bunny (if you can call him that) was stuffed in to this bin but he was facing down to the ground.
I simply turned him round to face the camera and draped his arm over the top of the bin. Some of his stuffing was on the floor so I added this back into the huge rip under his armpit.
The shot was simple, the angle was right and so I fired off a few frames.
Back home, opening up photoshop I darkened the exposure just to add a touch more misery of the scene. I also removed a few random stickers that had been stick to the bin, they seemed to spoil the shot as I wanted it as clean as possible. Read more

Guestblog Achim Meurer

Today a guest blog by Achim Meurer, well actually he did such a great post I decided to put into two parts online.
During one of my “critique” days on G+ and Twitter I got an amazing interior shot, and because I loved that one so much I asked for a guestblog which you can read today, so without wasting more space here it is….

First of all thanks to Frank for that guest blog post. To look at other photographers is a very important part of my daily learning. Not to copy them, but to get new inspiration and ideas! So guest blog posts are always a good way to do that 😉 There are two motifs I‘ve uploaded to the „Get a short feedback from Frank on G+“: some HDR indoor images from the opera house in Graz/Austria (where I live now) and some portraits.

Guestblog Morgana Creely

While we’re in Vegas you will sometimes be “entertained” by guestbloggers 😀
Today it’s time for Morgana Creely.

My passion for photography is all about creating images that tell stories. Creating an image that could be a single frame from a film, encouraging the viewer to wonder what went on before or indeed after. Creating these kinds of images can be a little intimidating when you first start out. But you donít need endless resources, exotic locations, or a Hollywood budget. You just need imagination, a little perseverance, and occasionally a handy friend. There are several ways you can approach your image story: start with a location, a subject [or model], or an idea. I know this order might seem a little backwards ñ why not start with the idea? If you have a very strong idea to start with, definitely run with it; but sometimes the ideas will come when you consider other elements.

Guestblog Charlie Chipman

I met Charlie during one of my workshops in Los Angeles. I loved his style he uses and it was no surprise that he blew me away with the project he is working on now. As you might know, I love street photography, and whenever I’m abroad I always try to do it as much as possible. I was very impressed by what Charlie does with the subject and I love this series, so I decided it was time to have him over as a guestblogger to tell you about the project…
