Barndoors and flags rock

I love aimed light.

Now one can ofcourse use grids which are without a doubt awesome. In fact almost all my lights use grids.

But sometimes you want even more and a spot effect is not enough. That’s when you can actually use flags (Manfrotto has some cool ones) or barn doors on your lightsources.

Barndoorns are officially designed against lensflares and spill. But when you use them a bit more aggressively you can really pinpoint that light.

In these shots I used a westcott icelight with barndoorns.
