It’s all about position
Composition is king
It's all in the lines
We can photoshop that out
Which one is not part of the proper photo shoot?
Sometimes we are in positions where it's not possible to do everything in camera. We do have to do some post processing. However this is not an excuse to be sloppy.
In 90% of the cases you can fix it in camera or at least make the shot less work afterwards. Take for example this shot.
Shot on the Brooklyn bridge in a VERY busy period. Still you hardly see any people. And trust me it was busy. It was a stream of people walking by. So what did we do?
By letting nadine pose on the side of the boardwalk and me leaning all the way to the side and slightly tilting the camera and coaching annewiek to keep the clothing a certain way I blocked off 99% of the clutter (in this case people). You can still see some people which I left in for the simple reason that cloning hem out is a tremendous job and I don't think they really bother me now.
Often people spend hours and hours on Photoshopping things that could easily been taken out by just a slightly different angle, position or positioning of the clothing.
Be smart and shoot it right (or as right as possible) in camera.

Absolutely. I do a lot of live band photography and that often ends up being an exercise in hiding things behind people.
Indeed 😉
