Tip on Eyes and shadow
Most of the time I’ll tell people that eyes should have enough light. And normally that’s 100% true of course.
But when shooting someone with a hat or hair covering the eyes you should be careful.
In real life the light mostly comes from above, so it wouldn’t make any sense when you open up shadows completely when something is covering the models eyes. I mostly will make sure that there is a clear shadow but just open it up a little bit by using a reflector or a kicker light. In the end result I however still want to see that shadow.
Of course this is 100% personal.
