Mill session with Suzanna
Just before the workshops for Servix we stopped in Suzanna’s home town to do a quick photoshoot in a great location… a really old mill which is totally restored and is in working order. On location there are always many challenges and things you would like to have been able to do differently, in this case for example the mill was located on a steep hill and shooting the shot you see now I would have loved to shoot from a slightly different angle but that was not possible so I had to settle for a different way, in this case I opted for a wide angle approach and in the second shot for a more “side” shot.
Of course we also shot some images in front of the mill, a bit dangerous because this is literally shot from the middle of the road 🙂
and a bit more vintage looking. We did not had the best of luck with the weather so very soon we had to go inside, luckily there was more then enough to shoot there. All the shots you see now were done inside the mill with natural light. In this case I was happy I did not bring the Medium format camera (which I actually was planning to do) but instead took the Sony A99 with me (which I by the way always carry with me as backup camera). The reason is very simple, with MF the usable ISO for me is around ISO400 and most of the shots you are going to see now are way above that ranging from 3200-10.000.
As you can see I tried different retouching techniques to give the images a bit more character.
