Studley castle with Nadine

Now when someone tells me I can teach a workshop at a real castle I’m jumping up and down from joy because I know that there will be some amazing images, especially when your model is the always amazing Nadine. Today some images from the Studley castle workshop in the UK.

The last 2 images are actually in need of a small explanation.
During the workshops I sometimes also show the difference between classic and modern lenses.
The first image you see was shot with the Petri 50mm 1.7 lens and the second one with a Carl Zeiss Jena 135mm f4 lens. Both M42 classic lenses but as you can see both with a totally different character, something I love about these lenses. In the next week you will see a series on my passion for the vintage side of photography in a series of articles.

I can see the importance of including the skies in these Frank.
Interesting to see the two different lens images too

    Absolutely beautiful!!

I hope you are well and getting enough rest and not eating too much?

I’m getting my rest, and nope not eating too much. With my condition I have to be very careful, when I don’t sport I will gain weight like crazy, up until now I’m still at my old weight, so I keep my fingers crosses, I know I’m loosing muscle but I hope I can counteract that again in 2-3 weeks.

Keep at it – it’s not easy, but the rewards are amazing. I have another 40 kilos to lose, I’m at the halfway point – what makes it difficult is that I cannot exercise, because my heart is damaged, but I love my food…… I am twenty+ years older than you, but I see the signs in you that I ignored. I mean what we we do for inspiration if we lose you??

I’m looking forward to the next time you are in the UK – I’ll be there!!

What signs do you mean ?
The Meniscus surgery had little to do with that, the twist I made would have been a disaster anyway 😀

I’m always watching my food (stay below 2500 calories most days) and stay away from as much bread as I can, plus of course 45 minutes of Cardio at least 5-6 times a week.

It’s an unfair battle but at least I have fun with it 😀

Frank, The last two images are both taken with the Petri wide open. This seems as good as my old favourite the Zuiko 50/1.2 which I dearly miss.

For me it’s a weird lens, it can be sharp but it flares like crazy, and that’s what I like about it, the high contrast look from the Zeiss is amazing but somehow the Petri has more “glow” “soul” difficult to explain.

    Great set Frank.

I was on this workshop and had a great day. It was really interesting in that we were at this beautiful castle building but you chose to shoot mainly in the run down areas of the site. Using your lighting and angles you have brought interest and mood to the images. It really made me think that you don’t need a great looking location to get fantastic photographs. I have to say that Nadine and her varied and inventive wardrobe also brought so much to the shoot. You were both real pros.

      thanks.
The castle was very cool indeed but not everyone has a castle in their backyard 😀 so that’s why I decided to do part around the castle and part in an area that most people do have around them.

I actually totally honest like the images we shot later that day much more than the castle ones 😀
