Wide angle fun
Now according to some people there are rules in photography, for example ask 100 photographers about the perfect portrait lens and most will say “well as long as it’s not below 85mm” other answers will vary from 85-135 to 200 but most will agree that too wide is not good…. well today I want to trigger your imagination a little bit by showing some portrait/model work I did over the last few months with wider angles.
A wide angle will distort the image, but I strongly believe that if you do it with that in mind it can give you some great results.
You do have to take care of where to place the head of the model, because if you place the head wrong the distortion will often be a bit too much (well at least in most cases :D)
So have fun with your wide angle and make sure to share some images with us.
Love these, Frank!
thx Jimmy
a bit of out-of-the-box thinking doesn’t hurt!…. great images, Frank! 🙂
I love the out of the box idea.
I am doing allmost all of my work with just the 24-70 lens, Only use the 70-200 for compressing in some places or with events
That’s the fun thing, it’s always a personal choice.
That first image has Glyn written all over it….followed by just Frank.. LOVE my 14-24 and use it on my eye when I do. Just a couple of inches, or a different angle makes all the difference in the world to an image.
I love Glyn 😀
By the way this one was done 100% with the camera, no Photoshop for distortion.
End result might look the same, the road to it can be different 😀 I love to do everything in camera as much as possible.
Frank, I really love this picture of the “mad scientist”. It has 3D, it has humour. Of course, it has your name written all over it in terms of style and finish. But who is this amazing model?
Hi,
It’s Louisa
