New portfolio
Maybe you already noticed it, but the old portfolio has been gone for a while.
Out went a lot of images and I tried to stay below 20 images per category, and yes that did hurt.
But whatever I tried I could not find something that worked the way I wanted, the portfolio looked nice but I got a lot of questions if I also would be willing to sell prints and to build that into my own website…. well to make a long story short that did not work.
During the SWPP I met up with the guys from www.smugmug.com and it didn’t take long before I knew that I wanted to have something online under their vision. Last week I got the mail I was waiting for from their custom department with the message that I could start uploading images. So if you did not see the portfolio yet make sure to check it out via the portfolio page, or surf direct to frankdoorhof.smugmug.com
And if you’re looking for a great way to present your images…. well they ROCK.
For presentation, I always use my own skills and name servers to host my ftp site(s). I had (and still have) WordPress Blog site, but my main site created by me, which basically does what I need at this point.
Your new portfolio pages looks attractive, but honestly what makes it attractive is not the presentation but your work 🙂 You just can’t go wrong with your images, no matter where they are 😉
…just sayin
…to those who don’t know my website, just in case if you wonder, it’s leokoach.com
Thanks Leo.
Great Portfolio Frank.
Interesting Plattform.
Did you pay for smug or did they “sponsor” you?
How is the response from customers? Im not sure what i think about this side because in my opinion its not very well known. So, selling with only a few visitors could be not easy.
Im always sceptical when it comes to nice but not very popular sides. Even if they are not for free.
Greetings
Oliver
Well I would not say they are small or unknown 😉
They are rather big if you look into it.
In the end it also doesn’t matter, people will visit the portfolio via my site and can order prints the same way. It’s not something like 500px or Flickr it’s different. It’s more like a well thought out customizable website/portfolio website with storage and shop. Exactly what I wanted.
Very Nice Frank. I’m a long time Smugmug user and have always been very please with them.
