Grab someone…..
I love to play, not only with light but most of all with expressions and looks.
Of course models are fun to shoot, but also sometimes try to just grab someone you know and drag them in front of your camera, however the trick is to let them do something “special” “weird” or “funny”…. the results can be great and even portfolio material.
Many thanks to my students who had the guts to stand in front of my camera 🙂
Thanks guys.
I love the idea of dragging whatever you can out of someone, sometimes you get a small window into that person’s soul.
Frank speaking of light, I would love to see your ideas and comments on how you shoot INTO the light. In your portfolio you show quite a few images where the sun is actually part of the image. But for the average guy to do this, the pictures turn out very dark and weak. The foreground is lost to the overpowering glare of that sun spot. And if you expose for the foreground, you get a huge washed out glare from the sun itself. Your images seem to find a happy place between the Sun+Foreground+Composition= Great Shot. Anything you could add?
It’s a very delicate balance between just enough flare and light on the model. A good meter and some fill in flash outside is priceless.
