Sometimes you have to go back

We all shoot a lot of images, and in all honestly I’m the kind of photographer that likes to edit straight away because if I go back later… well I simply see too many mistakes in the shots 😀

But this time I had to go back because Nadine asked me.

What’s the story?
During the tradeshow professional imaging (the biggest tradeshow in the Netherlands for photography) I got seriously ill, we did the imaging days in Belgium the week before for Sony and somehow I was already feeling sick on the way back, but back home everything went ok and I thought I was ready for the PI, during build up the flu got back and the first day of the show I was hardly able to do my demos (but I did them anyway), the next morning I ended up in the emergency room of the hospital because I couldn’t sleep from the coaching, now that sounds way more serious than it was (well the emergency room part, because the rest was pretty serious) but we needed much stronger medication and FAST.

My idea (yeah my idea) was to get some heavy stuff and do my demos and go back to the hotel, but as it turned out someone else had to take over for me that day because I was too sick to do the show (many thanks to Brett Florens), that day I only slept and watched some TV.

Now you don’t keep a Doorhof in bed so the third day I was at the show floor doing my demos for both Sony and ourselves, but to be absolutely honest… I don’t remember much, I actually looked at some images a week later and wondered who shot them….. During the live show I did an edit on one of the shots for Nadine/the public and forgot about the rest.

Now because Nadine asked me if I could look through them again to see if there was at least one more I went through them again and found these two that I really loved. I retouched both in a totally different way but I think with a setup like this that’s allowed 😀

So as you can see… sometimes it’s cool to go back.
Although I rather not go back to the being sick again….
