5 Ways to Incorporate Power into Your Workflow with Tether Tools
Today a blog from Tethertalk.com about power!
Unfortunately power outlets aren’t always available when you’re out shooting on location. Here are 5 different ways to keep the juice flowing so you can keep shooting.
1. Power Your Camera
Leave your camera batteries at home with the Case Relay Camera Power System! This new power solution from Tether Tools allows you to shoot continuously with your camera with zero interruption, providing peace of mind knowing you have an uninterrupted power source for your camera. The Case Relay Camera Power System lets you power your camera with any USB external battery pack, such as the Rock Solid External Battery Pack which at 10,000 mAh provides 3 to 10 times more power than a typical camera battery. If you’re shooting off tripod pair your Case Relay with the Spider Monkey from Spider Holster which will allow the power system to be conveniently secured directly on your belt.
2. Power Your Tethered Connection
Are you having trouble connecting your DSLR USB 3.0 camera to your computer using tethering software such as Lightroom, Capture One or other tethering software programs? You’re not alone. USB 3.0 camera users are experiencing dropped tethering connections or are unable to get a tethered connection started at all. The core issue is that computer manufacturers, mostly in an attempt to be as efficient with power as possible, are either under powering or dynamically powering their USB 3.0 ports. The TetherBoost Core Controller will regulate the power from DSLR/Digital Backs to the computer and operate up to full USB3 speeds. And it’s about the size of a deck of cards, making it small enough to not add much to your already stuffed bag of gear. I use is for my Sony 7RII, but also for my Mamiya/Leaf Credo 60.
3. Power Your Phone and Tablet
Phones and tablets have become increasing integrated into our everyday lives as they grow more powerful, but battery life is often an issue. The Rock Solid External Battery Pack with it’s high-capacity external 10,000 mAh battery packs quite a punch. The Battery Pack provides up to 50 hours of power to an iPhone 6 and 20 hours to an iPad Air 2, making it a must-have in every creative’s bag. The power bank contains a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery, and an internal microchip controlling the voltage according to the device needing to be charged. So no matter which port you select it will never damage the device.
4. Power Your Laptop
HyperJuice2 is the next generation of battery packs and can power an Apple MacBook, table, and phone all at the same time. It features an advanced battery management and monitoring system. An OLED screen provides detailed battery information including percentage power remaining, temperature, time to full charge and discharge. The modular design allows the aluminum casing, lithium ion battery cells, and logic board to be replaced and upgraded individually, making the battery future proof and environmentally friendly. Referred to as the world’s most advanced battery, the HyperJuice2 can power a MacBook for up to 18 hours, an iPad for up to 50 hours, and fully recharge your iPhone up to 19 times – that’s a lot of juice! I have this HyperJuice for a long time, it comes with a special charger, so you can also charge your MacBook. So we never bring more than this charger because it powers up both the HyperJuice and our MacBooks.
5. Power Your Workstation
Have you ever had the power low warning start beeping on your laptop just as the photo shoot began? Then feel the power. The power of being prepared for any situation. The Clear Power Surge Protector/Power Strip provides easy access to clean and safe power. The 6-outlet surge protector/power strip fits securely under the Tether Table and will be there when you need it to power a laptop computer or recharge camera batteries. Once installed, the surge protector can easily be attached or removed from the Tether Table as needed. Installation is easy with included heavy-duty hook & loop fastener designed for under-mounting on any Tether Table Aero. We have different power in Europe, so we don’t use this power strip. But it is very easy to mount a EU power strip under the table with velcro.
