Images from the glamour workshop
In this blog post some of my favorite images from the glamour workshop we did Saturday with Lisanne.
During the glamour workshop I always discuss three topics which are in my opinion important in glamour photography, these topics vary per workshop to make it interesting for me and the students that follow several of the same workshops.
One for the first real topics was body scapes. I love to shoot body scapes with nude photography, and this form of nudes is a very nice kind of photography often resulting in great images. Because I don’t post anything nude online I had to choose the image above which is I think a nice enough sample of the techniques used in this part of the workshop 🙂
I also love to play with light in light during these workshops.
With these kind of setups I learn the students how they can use a “spot” on the model but still hold details where they want details by using spot metering and a second fill in flash. The trick is to make it work without loosing the contrast in the image or the mood. One of the first things that have to be learned is that shadow areas showing 100% black are not a bad thing, if it works in the image.
A model lying on the floor can be captured in many different ways and viewpoints, this is just one of the many I demonstrate during the workshop.
This one you already saw yesterday, this setup was done with a mirror as main light source.
The idea behind these kind of setups is to trigger the students to think differently about light and learn to be more creative with options you would normally maybe not think about.
Nice stuff as usual Frank… Maybe we should do a glamour day in Boston too 🙂
If you can get me a model that does this work we can, much better due to the weather anyway 😀
Frank, I know this is probably a personal thing, maybe it’s my imagination, but you seem to drift over to an odd yellow/red mixture on quite a few final images even though it’s very slight on some. I was wondering if this is in support of the look your going for. Or is this just how the shots play out?
Thanks for this blog. It’s more important than my local newspaper with coffee….
Correct, it’s a look I’m playing with.
