Dublin sightseeing day

Today it was the day we have planned for sightseeing.
When we do the workshops abroad we always try to plan 1-2 days for ourselves to also see some of the area and visit some locations that are interesting. In this case the Irish weather does not help, it’s raining almost constantly, but somehow (call it a wonder) the only hour that was dry was the hour we visited Trim castle, the location were Braveheart was filmed (6 months). We always love castles so this one was high on our list.

After that it was back to Dublin to visit a large shopping mall to kill the time, it was too bad outside, however even in the rain I tried to also do some street photography, it’s something completely different than what I normally do but I still love it and am trying to improve in that department every time we are in a large city. And as you can see in the opening shot, there are always people that do the same thing even when it rains.

So don’t expect any high standard shots, these are just the snapshots I love to make and share via this blog for the people who like to see what I’m doing besides my fashion stuff 😀

We also experimented with something new that I will be using a lot in the future, during our trip I downloaded iMovie for my iPhone4 and to be honest I absolutely love it, I have not yet seen the full quality of the movies rendered expect the online versions but this can be so much fun for our backstage videos and during exhibitions and location workshops. As a test I made a very small video from todays visit to Trim castle and uploaded that to youtube in the backstage channel, don’t expect anything fancy it’s just some clips thrown together to test the workflow. iMovie makes it possible for me to film during the day and edit a video from the phone within 5 minutes and upload it, this will greatly improve the speed in which I can show backstage videos, and make it more fun to do it more often 😀 If you guys want it of course……

Tomorrow at the photovision roadshow we will also make a small overview video to let you taste some of the atmosphere there, and of course during the workshop on Wednesday we will film some material for the net.

And finally some of the snaps, straight from the camera, no work done yet.
What I do have to add is that the atmosphere in Ireland is totally different than in the UK, maybe it’s just this area but in the UK I often find myself being warned by security guards or shop owners that you cannot shoot there, I even ended up at the front page of a local newspaper…. but here people seem to be much more relaxed, no-one asked me to stop shooting, no they posed and loved it at the Wagamama, that’s the way it should be, photography is fun and recording for the future, we are not criminals 😀

Welcome back to Ireland, Frank. You’ll have to visit Cork again sometime soon 🙂 We had lots of sun here while it rained in Dublin! I’m going to be out of the country for a few days from tomorrow so will not be heading to Photovision this year, but I hope you enjoy your stay here.

Great stuff, i love your videos, they always include some rock sounds. 🙂

I wish we had that kind of scenery in our country. Alas, the USA is only 200 some odd years old. 🙁

Yeah Dublin is pretty bad rain wise although now it looks dry but today we are inside.
I hope to be back in Cork one day, we had a blast there.
    Maybe in 2011 ?
