Lensbaby on the streets

It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of lensbaby lenses. And when travelling I always bring the 85 and edge 35 on the composer. They are just so much fun and with the new cameras with live view and peaking focussing these babies is easy.

And let’s be honest. You can do some funky stuff with them. These are some shots from China Town in New York.

SWPP Demo shots

Last week I was at the SWPP in London with Nadine and Annewiek.
During the SWPP I taught several seminars for the SWPP but was also of course active on the Elinchrom booth for our friends from the flash centre.
Today some images from the booth.

During demos it’s always hard to come up with something creative, it’s a short time and space is often limited, plus there are a lot of people watching. In this case however when you bring someone like Nadine it gets a bit easier. But I hate to do the same thing every time so we decided to create something fresh for every shoot. The shoots were app. 30-45 minutes so it couldn’t be too complicated. One of the things I really love to do is add a little bit of added story to an image by for example using props, and what is a better prop than a camera right? In this case my Leica R film camera was used. The shots were mostly done with the 85mm Lensbaby, I love this little lens for it’s versatility and tilt option, it really gets you something creative, especially when shooting into a light source and using your hands as a sort of lenshood really can give some creative stuff.

SWPP Demos January 2014 -110

I think this is one of my favorite shots from the series, here I shot straight into the light source and metered for Nadines face, so no extra light source was used, just the reflection of some backgrounds on the stage. A little bit of luck always helps of course, but I’m pretty happy with the outcome.

First shots with the lensbaby composer pro

Last week I got a composer pro in the mail from the nice people at lensbaby.
The delivered it with the fisheye and soft focus options which I will review/test later in the coming weeks. In this blog post I will give some attention to the composer pro itself.
