Elinchrom Quadra Li-ion

Elinchrom Quadra Li-Ion battery
Now this will probably be one of the shortest reviews I ever did.
Elinchrom released the Elinchrom Quadra RX Li-Ion battery a while ago and I’ve been playing with it for some time now and thought it would be nice to share my opinion. But first off all I would like to thank my buddy Marc from Manfrotto for making it possible for me to test the battery J

The normal Quadra is already small, and for me this was one of the main reasons to buy them and use them in situations where I did not need the power of the Ranger RX, and to be honest since I’ve started using the Elinchrom maxilight I shoot more stuff with the Quadras than with the Rangers.

New York update 2 more on the A99 and Fuji

Today some more images from New York and some questions answered people asked me about the Sony A99 and Fuji X-E1.

Today I shot with the following lenses on the Sony A99, Zeiss 24-70 f2.8, Zeiss 85 1.4 (inside streetperformer images) and the Sigma 12-24 lens. On the Fuji I’m only using the 18-55 zoom lens with IS.

New York Day 1 Sony A99 and Fuji X-E1

Ok today the first update on our trip to New York.
On the 20th I will be teaching a seminar at the MAC group (see yesterdays blog post) but that also means I have a few days in New York to test two very interesting cameras, Annewiek is filming some material we will use for “The DOORhof is always open” which will feature a review of both cameras, but today I already share some of my thoughts and the first results.

The images in this review are mostly shot with the A99 and are in random order.

New York is great, it’s a streetphotographers paradise, or as Scott Kelby once said “It’s like the circus comes to town, only 24/7/365”. So which city is better to test out two very interesting cameras, the Sony Alpha 99 and the Fuji X-E1 with the 18-55 zoom lens.

Sony Alpha 99 introduction and more

Yesterday night it was time for me to introduce the new Sony Alpha99 to the public at the auditorium in Dubai at the Gulf Photo plus photo weekend. These are the kind of shows that really make me nervous. It’s not a standard seminar, it’s the introduction of (in my opinion) one of the most exciting camera releases in a while and it’s Sony, for which I have not done anything in the past, so the performance had to be good.

Luckily we had a great model and a great assistant (thanks Issa).
Now I also would like to thank the guys from DNA software (www.dslrsoftware.com) because one of the “problems” I had with the Alpha99 was the lack of tethering support, but last night just a few minutes before showtime we got everything working, and it works flawless, even disconnecting the camera and connecting the camera again did not cause any problems.

During the seminar I did shoot some images which I share in this blogpost.
