Workshops and seminars USA

Hi Guys (and girls), a quick news update on the coming month….
It’s almost March and that’s gonna be an exciting month.
First of course the professional imaging in the netherlands where I will be joined on the main stage by my buddies Dave Black and Drew Gardner plus I will be teaching a 3 hours Masterclass. But after that we are already going to the states for an exciting two weeks.

We start at Photoshop world with a great Pre-con workshop and 3 brand new seminars (2 live shoots) for the main stages, you’re gonna love them. After Photoshop world Annewiek and I will drive to New York where I will be teaching a seminar at one of the coolest places in the world (well ok for photographers) B&H !!! It’s not only the biggest camera store in the world but it’s also the place were you can get lost surrounded with the nicest gear you can imagine, I can’t wait to teach there, for me that’s a huge honor and I’m really psyched about it.
You can register via : http://www.bhphotovideo.com/find/eventDetails.jsp/id/1186

And right after the seminar at B&H we will continue the drive to Boston where I will be hosting my second (actually third) workshop in Boston. And also this time everything is arranged by my good friend Brendan from symbol photography. We have 2 seats left at the moment for the Boston workshop so be quick if you want to join… you can find more information at http://www.whyfakeitwhenyoucancreateit.com

Professional Imaging 2012

The place to be in the Netherlands for your Photography needs, well ok it’s no Photoshop World but it’s pretty cool and it’s free.
During 3 intense days (11-12-13 March) you can see a nice exhibition with all the big brands, and the whole day there will be demos by the exhibitors and on the main stage (Adobe theater).

I’ve been demoing there for many years on the Elinchrom/Fotoflits booth, and of course this year will be no exception although I will have some surprises for this year that are unique and that I’ve never done before during a show. Plus this year I will be teaching a seminar each day on the main stage (free), two will contain a live shoot (one small flash, one Elinchrom strobes) and one will be about getting your shots better with simple tricks. If that is not enough for you (and who blames you) there is also a 3 hour masterclass I will be teaching on Monday. You can now register for that one via http://www.professionalimaging.nl and the fee is 59.95 euros. In this Masterclass I will teach several techniques to control your light and understand the light meter, but also a lot of shooting tips, gear tips, information about workflow, medium format vs DSLR, business tips and much much more, concluding with a live shoot and retouch.

I can’t yet tell the names from the other photographers that are on the Professional imaging, but trust me it are friends of mine and they ROCK!!!!
So surf to http://www.professionalimaging.nl and register for the exhibition, it’s free !!! and you really, really can’t afford to miss this.

I will be bringing some of the best models I work with including Nadine with her extreme styling ideas it’s a blast just to watch her, and of course one of my all time favorite MUAs Linda from BeautyFX

Downloadable instructional DVDs

It has been asked many times, but to be honest I was not yet ready for it.
However since the release of “Live in Boston” things have changed, we never sold so many DVDs in the first week of the release, but we also got a lot of questions about the shipping costs abroad, the main problem is that we really can’t help the shipping costs abroad….We also got some complaints about certain countries that would not deliver the DVDs because there were girls on the cover (all covered by the way), we solved this in most cases by sending the DVDs without covers but let’s be honest it’s a lot of work. Because at the moment there are 7 English instructional DVDs and the demand is getting higher, I thought it was a good point in time to make them available for download now.

The downloads are high quality captures of the original DVDs.
Meaning all the chapters are in the downloads, including the intros, extras, slideshows etc. You won’t miss a thing. Because we don’t need to send the physical media we could cut the costs down and there are of course no shipping costs making it possible for everyone worldwide to get the instructional DVDs. The downloads clock in at around 1-1.5GB per download so make sure you have a good internet connection.

Winner NIK competition

For the last 2 months we have been running a NIK competition on Google+ and today I’m proud to announce the winning image.
It’s always incredibly difficult to do a judging when there is so much good material and this time there was a load of great content, because there were some stunning images it was extra difficult to not go just for the perfect lighting or model shot.

I asked the photographers to send in different images, meaning from most we got 2-3 images this way it was also possible to see the quality of their work in their submissions (not just a lucky shot), and where I also looked for was something that was not “easy” to do. For me that meant that almost all studio/posed etc. work would be very difficult to win, I wanted something that struck me in my core as a human being and photographer.

When I saw the images I got from Aldwin Cusi this happened and I asked him to do a guestblog on my blog about his work. Everything just clicked with his images and seeing the responses from the readers of this blog and the visitors to the online album I was not the only one that liked it. In the end I went for this image.

Congratulations Aldwin.
