This is a live, interactive, free, and online broadcast from our studio in Emmeloord. The topic is:

“Building a set on a budget and how to make awesome pictures”

Now that we can finally work in the studio again, we want to shoot more than a simple portrait for a standard background. With Frank, it’s never standard, but we want to go a little further and show you more.

So, in this episode, we have built some sets in our studio. Frank will tell you all about the set and props, and how he collected them. It is really not that hard if you know what to look for. Setting up the lights is also important to get the mood and atmosphere you want. He will show you that too, meanwhile explaining why this modifier fits his needs. It will probably a 3 or 4 light setup and we might add a little “hot” surprise. You’ll get tips and tricks on how to make your photo’s better by changing little things. Yes please, try this at home but don’t break the bank. Just try to be creative with what you got or can get your hands on.

Expression and posing is key in such a shoot. You’ll see from different camera angles how Frank coaches the model. Thanks to shooting tethered, you‘ll see the results immediately.
And as always you see Frank’s retouch, don’t worry, remember his motto: why fake it when you can create it, so retouching won’t take much time.

Because we have multiple cameras in de studio you can see it all: an overview of the light set-up, the model, Frank, and of course the results, and the retouching with a desktop stream.

Paint with light in Photoshop on the iPad

In todays episode I show you how you can literally paint with light in Photoshop on the iPad. The same technique could also be used in other editing software if they have similar options like blending modes and soft light.
