The stunning Athalja

The question we get a lot is “how do you work with new models, models you never met before?”
So we decided this was a cool subject for a Digital Classroom episode.

Annewiek arranged a model for me, the stunning Athalja and I didn’t meet her till literally 10 minutes before we went live. In the broadcast I explain of course the lighting setups but how to approach new models, how to work with them to make it an enjoyable experience PLUS get some cool shots. And finally of course we did the retouching.

In todays blogpost, the results and the link to the episode.
ENJOY.

Gear used :
Sony A7RIII with 24-70 f2.8 Gmaster
Phottix Mitros+ with Odin II
Rogue Flashbenders and gels
And the Lastolite panoramic background

How to photograph a model you’ve never met before and create killer shots. DC May 1 2019

Frank Doorhofs Digital Classroom is sponsored by BenQ & Rogue.
This is a live, interactive, free, online broadcast from our studio in Emmeloord. And this time the topic of the live shoot is:

“How to shoot a model you never saw with with Small Flash”

As a commercial photographer, you’ll never know who will be in front of your lens. He or she can be tall or short, red or blond. You have to be prepared and know how light works.

In this episode Frank will meet one of the finalists of Miss Beauty of Flevoland (our region). The winner will compete with our Dutch provinces to become Miss Beauty of The Netherlands. Frank has never worked with this Miss before (and didn’t even meet her till 10 minutes before the stream started)

Frank shows you how he coaches and also gives a lot of other business tips the maximize your shoot. Because Frank is shooting tethered, he, the model and you can see the pictures immediately! So it is a challenge to get that first shot right

And of course, he will retouch some images too. He’ll show you his workflow from selecting and retouching . And the best thing is you can talk to Frank & the crew LIVE in the chat on YouTube or Facebook.

So, are you new in model photography or don’t know how to start? Don’t miss this episode and next time, you’ll know what to do to!
