This one will blow your mind….

Yesterday I posted some images online from a very special comic book “store”, and today… well one more.
Now these are not “normal” shops, let’s make that clear. Both are more like warehouses that are “open” for the public and you can buy everything so in my book that’s actually a comic book store, but I just LOVE these for the simple reason they have almost anything.

Today we visited Joseph Koch Comics Warehouse, and this one is in a league of it’s own. And to be honest I can talk about this for ages… best is to just see it for yourself. I will just add this…. officially they were only open on appointment, but I said we came from the Netherlands after hearing about his place and the doors openend up “here is some candy, and drinks for when you’re getting hot or too excited…. let’s start with the grand tour”……. yeah baby… that’s how you run a business, make people feel right at home. This came straight after a visit to a store where I was denied to take a picture inside, well ok I could take only one… I simply declined.

So let’s show some images.
Finding the place btw is pretty hard, it’s like a little bit of a maze before you enter the walhalla of comics and toys.
I guess we now have two favorite places to visit for comics when we are back next year.

Some images from the streets of New York

We are in New York for the workshop on the 10th in Little Falls (more info here).
Of course we also visited New York for some street style photos, in this blog post some of the results. Of course we also filmed some tips for better street photography.

You can find the video here.

And here are some of my favorite shots, in the video there are a lot more.
Many thanks to Steve for joining us for some miles 😀

Anthony’s comicbook art

It’s no secret I think that next to photography (and Annewiek) I absolutely love comic books. Mostly Batman and the short horror and monster stories.

The USA is of course the home of the comic books and whenever we visit we always visit several stores and fleamarkets hunting for new (old) issues and perhaps some treasures. Now I have to be clear, I actually never really do shop reviews, but for this shop I make an exception.

Last year they were the last shop we visited, and we were overwhelmed. This is NOT a comicbook store like you know, this can best be described as that moment in Raiders of the lost Ark when they open up the doors to that HUGE warehouse where all the treasures were stored….. well welcome to Anthony’s comicbook art.

This is a store you really cannot afford to miss, I could literally spend a month there and probably not have seen it all, it’s insane. But the coolest thing was that they still knew me. And trust me when I buy I don’t really leave an impression, I’m mostly into the 1-5 US books and because we have to fly I don’t buy boxes of them. But still the moment we got out of the car we got a very warm welcome and they immediately know that I was that photographer from the Netherlands.

Also this time we were not disappointed and I got some cool older books.

And of course I couldn’t resist to take some shots inside the warehouse.
Again, if you are in the New Jersey/New York area make sure to check these guys out, their collection is really insane, prices are good and the service is above any standard, that’s actually the reason I wrote this small review, just to thank them.
