Hi Frank,
Thanks for the heads up about a slight delay when using Sony camera’s and e.g. the Skyport HS for triggering speedlights. But how would you trigger Sony speedlights with the Skyport? Can’t figure that out, there is no receiver that both connects to a Sony speedlight and can be triggered by the Skyport, is there? If not, then what’s the point of your video?
I must be missing something here and I would love to trigger the Sony speedlights with my new Skyport HS…
I think you misunderstood.
I stated that there is a SLIGHT delay in the triggering of the strobes JUST like with small flash.
In other words you use them with your Elinchrom lights and you experience the small slight delay you have with the Phottix Odin and Sony system.
BTW as stated in the text in the video this SLIGHT delay is now almost completely gone with the new firmware, but this varies per Sony camera, on the A7RII it’s now almost equal to the old skyport which makes it great again for timing shots with motion.

Ah, thanks. That cleared it up for me. Still would love to have a Skyport receiver to connect to Sony Speedlights… 🙂
You have to use a hotshoe convertor with a dumb sync connector.
Hama has those.
It’s a simple cable that triggers the hotshoe to the strobe, strobe has to be 100% manual.

You can with the older universal one.
I have one of those somewhere… ???? I don’t think that there is a cable that connects the both, is there?
But if there was, I would probably be nagging about losing TTL… ????

Get the Odin II for full ETTL.
