Goodbye Dio

There are days you love your work and days you would wish you could call in sick.
Dio has been with us for 21 years…. that’s older than our son is.
Of course old cats will have their issues with health when they get this old but to be honest he was pretty active but indeed getting old, and of course you prepare but we never expected it to go as fast as this.

A few days ago he stopped eating and we tried everything, now that had happened before so we thought he would be allright, but yesterday everything became worse and you could see he was getting sick, this was one hour before a seminar I had to teach, luckily in our own studio, those are the moments you realize that sometimes you don’t have a choice… the show must go on. “Inside my heart is breaking but my smile stays on” as Queen said.
This morning at 6:00AM we had to call the vet, there is a point where you have to take the choice, how hard it is that the love for an animal is more important that the need and the strong wish to keep him with you.
We buried Dio next to Joey in our back garden in a spot he always love to sit.
We will miss him dearly he has been with us for so long I can’t even think about him being not there…..

This shot I took not so long ago, and was actually labeled as my first cat shot online… I could not think it would be my last.
