Interview Jimmy Beech Alienskin
Today the start of a new series you will find on my blog.
I’m always looking for new things to get the blog more interesting for you the readers, I know it’s always nice to see new images and read some tech tips but for myself I also always love to read interviews with people that I recon as being the experts in their area, so I decided to send out some interviews to people I think are very interesting for you guys and today the first in this series.
It’s no secret I absolutely love Alien Skin Exposure. Actually almost all my images have some form of color treatment from Alien Skin Exposure or DxO film pack, so when I was thinking about a new series for the blog with interviews with industry professionals my first selection included Jimmy.

As you know I’m always carrying a camera, this way it’s always possible to take a picture.
The best way I heard this described was actually by Jay Maisel who said “If you don’t have your camera with you it becomes incredibly difficult to get the shot”. Most of the times you will see yourself shoot in situations that are not the run of the mill locations or situations and sometimes this gives you some amazing shots. I do have to be honest that the following shot I did not take myself, I was driving and asked Annewiek to take the shot the way I wanted it, a bit of the hood of the car and a slightly longer shutterspeed, this way we captured the speed effect I think pretty nicely.
Always remember that when you shoot something with motion in a forward moving vehicle that you will see a sort of “stretch” effect, this effect is something that I LOVE to use in tunnels etc. as you can see here.
Give me some grundge
If there is one thing I absolutely LOVE to shoot then it’s “decay” or “grundgy stuff”.
While we were staying in Odessa for my workshop with the “Tampa strobist group” from our good friend Kathy, Kathy housed us in an amazing cabin (those shots I already shared on this blog), now were staying in the so called “stage 2” area, and that area was not yet completely done, our cabin was great but there were several cabins that were in “less” shape, while staying there I of course had to shoot some of that scene 😀
