Collection SWPP with Maisy

During the SWPP show last week my model during the demos was no one less than Maisy James, besided modelling she is also active as a designer, actress and does some TV work, a very multitalented person so to say, and I have to add a delight to work with. I already showed you the results from day 1, so today it’s time for day 2 and 3 and I could easily spend two blogposts to the images seeing the amount of keepers I got from Maisy but I decided to do it all at once.

Now normally during trade-shows you maybe keep 1-2 shots per day but with Maisy it was a bit of a problem to choose just 1-2 because I loved them all, this is the reason why we also booked her for the upcoming Focus on Imaging show and probably my UK tour, which I will do in May and will visit the cities London, Birmingham and Edinburgh.

Do please realize that the images were shot during a tradeshow, in other words during 30 minute demos with not as much room as normal and we don’t have the time to test out things and perfect a shot.

Frank, others would be very happy creating such results with more available space and gear. You proove that stunning pictures don’t need perfect environment, it’s more using your eyes, experience and skills.

thank you so very much. Sometimes I would have just wanted to push a bit more to get a better result, but that’s the disadvantage of being on a stage.

Excellent model Frank, with a good attitude from what I saw at your stand during the weekend. No surprise you managed to get these results, others, including myself would have struggled withe time and space constraints. Hope to get booked on your Edinburgh workshop. Cheers Clive.

Believe it or not but they are… except the one with the burning lightbulb they are only tinted and the skin is slightly softened, but the rest is out of the camera.

That’s the whole reason for these demos 😀

“Believe it or not but they are… except the one with the burning
lightbulb they are only tinted and the skin is slightly softened, but
the rest is out of the camera. “. Well then they are by definition not SOOC images
:). However, exactly for this reason I would love to see the SOOC
images, just to see this difference this “only tinting” and slight
softening makes. Often on this kind of blogs and tutorials one sees the lighting that goes beyond an images (thanks for all that) and then one is shown the final images. The post processing is quite often skipped. So I wonder is this minor processing really “just minor details”? I have this question with many other BTS video’s btw (Zack Arias, Joel Grimes, Joe mcnally etcetctec). The overall message is always: its all in the lighting, then the whole lighting set up is shown, and then we see a final images….As said I really would like to learn this minor/basic processing in roder to be able to produce such fine images. (in other words, learn the lighting and the processing)

I noticed these pictures are taken at f/8 f/11. Was there a reason you did that? I assume the ISO was probably high. Great pictures and model. Love your blog, it is the first thing I look at every morning.

Thanks for first checking the blog, spread the word 😀

There is no real reason except that it was shot on stage during a demo so there is always some ambient light and with F11 I know for sure it’s gone.
