Vlaggetjes dag Urk

Yesterday it was “vlaggetjesdag” on Urk.
A day where the local community invites people over for a peek into their trades, fleet and of course eat fish. Now if you love fish this is the time to go to Urk, well actually you have to visit Urk all the time if you like fish.

Urk once was an island and it’s main income was/is from the fishing industry. Personally I love the place, it’s the place where I will go to if I test new gear, just want to get my head clear or when I want new gear…… cameranu.nl is also located on Urk.

Because it’s important for the recovery of my knee that I switch between hanging on the coach and some slow walking you see a lot of “street style” photography on the blog lately, don’t think I forgot about models but at the moment it’s a bit hard to schedule complete photoshoots because when I walk around for like an hour I can feel it in my knee and know it’s time to stay quiet for a while and I know when I shoot models…. well there’s not taking it easy there for me 😀 So I hope I don’t bore you guys with all the “non model” images 😀

And to be totally honest I always tell my students it’s VERY important to not concentrate on just one subject but try to explore your photography also into other directions, you’ll never know where it takes you, and it’s a great way to test/better your skills of course. Myself I normally have way too little time to go out and explore stuff like this, now being forced at the sideline for a few weeks has given me some time to finally get out of some work that was pilling up and never got done 100% but also to go out and do stuff I normally don’t have the time or energy for 😀 and to be honest I love it. It has triggered my love for street photography again.

      No HDR.
Just the new camera RAW, lifted the shadows a bit and recovered some of the highlights, the rest I have to give credit to the 5DMKIII I guess and the light.
