Some more images from our trip

Wednesday we visited some final locations in the Washington area.
Today it was time for Great falls and the Iwo Jima monument. Both very impressive for their own reasons.

As usual we shut of the navigation system and just drove around.
Maybe this is a good tip if you don’t already do so… during our stays abroad we will often drive somewhere and from there just shut of the navigational system and drive around, the fun thing is that you find locations that normally are missed, plus you see the country in a way normally a tourist never does. Sometimes this gives you some great images, and sometimes just a cool drive. During this trip I “scored” this one that I really like.

And finally we visited the Iwo Jima monument. I really wanted to see this because the monument is inspired by a VERY strong photograph, and to be honest the monument is very very impressive (and huge). The following shots were shot with the idea to make a mix between reality and a monument. By letting the statue really stand loose from the bottom and not including any “modern” parts I tried to make the mix more “real”.

And finally a little HDR shot made just after sundown before diner.

And to close off this blog update….. a very special image.
I shot this one with my iPhone 4S (panorama mode) and worked a bit on it in Snapseed from Nik. For a cellphone it keeps impressing me.

You have some great talent with photography!  We ate lunch at Chick-Filet when your crew was there on Monday.  Hope your trip includes many more photos that show marvelous scenes such as these!
