Some new workshop dates

Today some new workshop and seminar dates.
For a complete overview visit http://www.photography-workshops.eu

1. Wednesday October 26th (tonight)
I will be teaching a seminar in Enschede the Netherlands.
The theme will be : how to improve your images right in the camera.
The seminar is loaded with tips and tricks on how to create better images with often just small adjustments, it will start with street and travel photography and build up to model photography.

The seminar is held at :
Universiteit Twente
Vergaderzaal 5 van de Vrijhof (gebouwnr. 47)
20:00-22:00

2. Photoshop World 2012 Washington DC
Photoshop World is something I always look forward to, but this time it’s even more special because I will also be teaching my first Pre-Con workshop (limited to 40 students). In this workshop I will start off with the theory behind “understanding, manipulating and measuring light” and after this and a short Q&A we will start a session with a fashion model in which I will show simple light setups that will change the way you look at light on location.
Make sure to register in time, I think it will be filled up really quick.

During Photoshop World I will be teaching 3 brand new seminars.
On the Expo Floor I will be teaching a seminar on improving your images ranging from travel/street photography to model photography.
During the PSW seminars I will be doing live shoots with a model and explain light setups, share tips and tricks and show some quick Photoshop edits. One seminar will be aimed at small flash and one on big flash, these two live shoots/seminars will be aimed at both the beginner as advanced shooter and are loaded with things you probably never thought of with your light setups….. On PSW I always go all out so don’t miss it.

Shot during the last Boston workshop

3. Boston USA
Right after Photoshop World we will jump in a car and do a small road trip to Boston to stay with our friend Brendan from symbol photography  he already hosted the hugely successful workshops in September of 2011 and he will again be hosting a full day workshop right after Photoshop world. In this workshop a small group of students (limited to 12) will shoot in the studio and (if possible) on location and learn all the tips and tricks I combine in the several workshops I teach in the Netherlands. Lots of attention will be given to manipulating light sources to make something spectacular from something simple, measuring and understanding the light meter and of course how to coach the model and find the right poses and angles.

Don’t miss this one (also), for more info on the Boston workshop check out http://www.whyfakeitwhenyoucancreateit.com

Dutch Help Portrait

We have been busy behind the screens with the Dutch version of Help – Portrait.
You can find more information on http://www.help-portret.nl
If you are based in the Netherlands or can help us with more media attention to make this a huge success please let me know and I will guide you to the right region or for national media I will make sure the contacts will be used. Help Portrait in the Netherlands is already very well organized but we now need to get the public aware of the project. I took up the proud task to arrange everything for the Netherlands after some talks with the original initiator Jeremy Cowart in the US during my teaching at PSW. At the moment we have several regions up and running and my own region is also almost done. However now it’s important to reach the media and that’s difficult, especially the nation wide media, so if you can help out in ANY way, or

if you have connections please let me know and make Help Portret NL a huge success.
The video has been edited and translated to Dutch by my good friend Gert Kracht, MANY MANY thanks guy.
Please share this video with everyone you know, put it on your website, try to get it on TV, whatever small thing or big thing you can do.

Elinchrom 1.50 Deep Indirect Octa review part II

This is the second part of the mini review on the Elinchrom Deep Octa.
In the previous part   I talked a bit about shooting with the new Deep Octa without any diffusion and using it for full body shots. The shots you find in this part were all shot during the workshop the day after Part I and feature Marie. In this case I installed the middle diffuser and used it as a sort of “beauty” light for the first series.

Rogue flashbenders advert in DPP

For years I’ve been reading and enjoying Digital Photo Pro magazine, they have some of the best interviews and photographers in the magazine and also a lot of new talent that I just love, so for me it’s an honor that in the November issue of DPP you can find an advert for the great Rogue products with one of my images and a small interview.

Tomorrow part II of the Elinchrom 1.50 Octa review by the way 😀
