Inspirational links

No this is not a post about you know what 😀

As photographers and all artists we all need to be inspired.
Without inspiration live it boring and your work will not be what it could be (I don’t want to say boring again).
Inspiration can come from many things, seeing a beautiful landscape, a TV broadcast or your own personal live.
In the old days we had to get our inspiration from books or our travels or of course close at home.
Today with the internet the options are almost endless.

In this blog post I will give you some links to photographers I admire and whose work I love to look at and sometimes get inspiration from. Please feel free to share your own personal links (you can even link to your own site if you think you can inspire others).

Sheena workshop shots

On January 5th Sheena was our model for a 1:1 workshop.
For this workshop we started out outside for some setups were the idea was to create a moody shot by lowering the available light.

An Elinchrom quadra was used as an accent light and the Elinchrom Ranger RX with the Maxispot as mainlight source in the first setup. For the second setup (between te trees) we used the setup in reverse.
Clothing wise we couldn’t do that much because it was literally freezing outside, and in all honesty I love an icequeen but somehow Sheena was not prepared to do a bikini shoot in the snow (just kidding of course she would have done it if I asked).

After the cold of the outside the workshop was moved back into the warm studio.
Because it was the last workshop in a series for this student we played around a bit with different setups and ended up with an almost glamour setup. The main advantage of the 1:1 workshops is that we can custom make the workshops to fit exactly what the students want to learn and the style they want to shoot it in. For me this is also nice because I’m often doing stuff I normally wouldn’t shoot myself that quickly.

In this post you find my personal favorite shots of this day and a small backstage video from the outside part of the workshop.

A new year

You know what they say….
“A new year, new chances”

Well yes we will.
This week my normal schedule will start again after a few weeks of hard needed time off were we only did the essentials, and to be honest I can’t wait to start again. I did do some commercial shoots and workshops but I really missed the more freestyle work.

This year will be an exciting one with lots of great possibilities, I’m looking forward to the Photoshop World seminars in Orlando in March, hope to meet up with a lot of photographers and have some amazing fun, and what I heard about photoshop world that should not be a problem, and of course seeing our friends from Kelby again will be a blast. But also the Pro imaging promises a lot (can’t talk about that now because it’s not 100% certain yet, but you will love it when you visit, it will be…… different and we will “kiss the sky”….. jumping ? who knows 😀 And of course don’t forget the EOS digitaal day where we will be and I will be teaching some seminars. I can confirm that one of the companies I work with OnOne will also be near our booth to show you what you can do with my shots and their software, I will shoot the images live and they will work on it.

2011 is also the year that we welcome Canon as one of our endorsers and some other brands I can’t yet say. Canon and I will be doing something with the small flash workshops (and more) this year.

We will also be using the live channel a lot more this year (and yes even with audio this time), maybe there will be some sorts of interview like segments but I have to think about that, so if you have any suggestions or ideas just blast away or mail me.

Workwise I’m full of new ideas, just hope to be able to output at least some of those this year.
On Kelbytraining there will be a lot more new videos, two are online already and from what I heard they are doing great, some more will follow.
I will also start the new SMALL FLASH workshop next month which promises to be the “missing link” in the workshops I’ve been teaching, or in other words, the workshop for people who are not willing to work with the big strobes but just with the little ones and on a budget, it promises to be fun.

As always we never know what the new year will bring, but I’m ready for it, so let’s rock !!!

Happy new year

To all the readers from this blog a happy new year and that 2011 will be the best year ever for you and your loved ones.

We will continue to spam you guys with new images, videos and the live broadcast part will be used more in 2011, and lots more of exciting stuff without a doubt 😉

So from our team, and of course Frank, Annewiek and Brian Doorhof all the best for 2011.
